Bismarckia is a genus of flowering plants in the family Arecaceae, which includes the palm trees. The plants are native to Madagascar, and are named after the German chancellor Otto von Bismarck. Bismarckia plants are known for their large, fan-shaped leaves, which can grow up to 10 feet long and are a distinctive bluish-silver color. 

The plants are slow-growing, and can reach a height of 20-30 feet. They are often grown as ornamental plants, and are valued for their unique appearance and tolerance for hot, dry conditions. Bismarckia plants prefer well-drained soil and full sun, and are drought-tolerant once established. They are also relatively cold-hardy, and can withstand temperatures down to about 20 degrees Fahrenheit.
