Hibiscus Plants

Hibiscus (Gudhal) Flower Plants Collection

Hibiscus plants belong to the 'rose mallow' family and are known for their vibrant and diverse blooms. More than 200 species are globally, often grown rapidly for their ornamental purposes. These versatile plants may be grown as evergreen bushes or small trees with a height of about 15 feet. They thrive in full sunlight but may benefit from afternoon shade, so they are suitable for gardens and containers. The broad trumpet-shaped hibiscus flowers can be white, pink, red, orange, peach, yellow, or purple in various hues. They range from 4 - 18 cm in breadth and are available in single or double-layered variants.

From our personal experience, hibiscuses are perfect for beginners. You must water them when the soil becomes dry and allow for proper drainage. In addition to the reasons above, hibiscus can support a vertical herb garden because they provide food to larvae that can feed on butterflies. Additionally, they are also used as herbal teas and herbal medicines. Hibiscus flowers and their petals are the most essential and popular natural dyes used in the food industry because they help produce healthy cooling teas and even help lower body temperatures.

Similarly, hibiscus' health benefits have been studied regarding their usefulness in high blood pressure treatment, lowering sugar, fat and cholesterol levels in the blood, having antioxidant effects, and even possessing some antibacterial capabilities. The hibiscus plant is also linked with beauty and love; its flowers are used for ceremonies, particularly marriages. Another type is Hibiscus Red, a multi-seasonal flowering plant producing blooms yearly.
