Amla Plant, Indian Gooseberry, Phyllanthus Emblica, अमला का पौधा

Amla is a type of flowering tree in the family Phyllanthaceae. It is native to India and Nepal, and is commonly found in the Himalayan region. The tree is known for its fruit, which is called amla or Indian gooseberry. The fruit is a small, spherical or oval-shaped berry with a rough, greenish-yellow skin and a bitter, astringent taste.

It is a valuable source of vitamins and nutrients, and is used in traditional medicine and Ayurveda. Amla trees can grow to a height of 30-40 feet, and have glossy, dark green leaves and small, white flowers. The fruit is typically harvested in the fall, and is used fresh or dried to make products such as amla powder, amla oil, and amla candy.

Amla is a medium-sized deciduous plant.  It can reach a height of 8 to 18 meters.  Its branches are spreading and its trunk is crooked.  The color of its flower is yellowish-green.  The fruit is pale yellow and spherical, with six vertical furrows.  The mature fruits are resistant to gentle pressure and are quite hard.  The fruit has an average weight of 60-70 g.  It is distinguished by its reddish wood and gray bark.  The leaves of this plant are linear, oblong, and feathery, with a lemon-like aroma.  Its wood is hard in texture.  It is susceptible to splitting and wrapping when subjected to excessive heat or the sun.

Amla tree is cultivated on the slopes of hills up to 2000 meters in tropical India, where it is found among the deciduous trees.  It is commercially grown in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.  Additionally, it is cultivated in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Tamil Nadu.

Amla can thrive in both light and heavy soils.  It is cultivated in tropical regions.  The young plants are shielded from the hot winds due to their ease of dyeing.  Seeds are the primary method of propagation for amla.  Proper sunlight is necessary.  During the monsoon season, it is irrigated.  It begins to produce fruit seven years after the date of planting.

Amla fruit is the most abundant source of Vitamin C and functions as a diuretic, aperient, laxative, and hair dye.  It is beneficial for hair and alleviates insomnia.  It is utilized as a cardioprotective agent and is beneficial in the treatment of hemorrhage, menorrhagia, leucorrhoea, and the passage of blood from the uterus.  Ayurvedic applications have traditionally employed amla power and oil to treat scalp conditions.  Amla power enhances physical strength and enhances immunity.  It enhances the appearance of the skin and eliminates wrinkles.  Amla is also employed as a cooling agent to mitigate the effects of sunburns and sunstrokes, as well as to treat constipation.

Amla serves as the primary component of the shampoo.  Amla oil is utilized worldwide.  Amla is employed in the production of sauces, candy, dried chips, pickles, jellies, and powder.  It is also employed in the dyeing industry.  The extract is frequently employed in the production of ink.  Amla wood is frequently employed in the production of fireworks.

In India, amla is considered a sacred tree.  It is revered as the Mother Earth and is believed to provide humankind with nourishment due to the fact that its fruits are highly nutritious.  It fosters spiritual purity.  The worship of this tree is ordered by Kartik Mahatma and Vrat Kaumudi.  Its fruits and flowers are employed in religious ceremonies.
